Christine Boyce from Fig Tree Muesli


Market goers are in for a special treat at our September…..the best muesli you will ever taste, seriously. Christine Boyce began making her Fig Tree Muesli when she was teenager in Dublin. Her boyfriend's mother, Aine McCarthy, made her own muesli, and passed on the recipe to her, along with some of her secrets (see below!). Christine’s husband ran The Lansdowne Cafe for its first couple of years and Christine made their muesli for them. When they sold the business last year, she just had to find a way to keep making her muesli because she enjoyed it so much….lucky for us we have snavelled her and her delicious products! Fig Tree Muesli is not only good for you, it’s good for the world! It’s a not-for-profit business, with all proceeds going to various worthy causes - currently Medecins Sans Frontiers.

What makes it so yummy?

I toast the bejaysus out of all the nuts and seeds, and use the tiniest amount of french hazelnut sirop- there, the secret's out!

How is your muesli best enjoyed?

It's really a matter of taste, but it needs to be fairly fresh to be at its very best , which is why I dont make it more than three or four days before each market. My favourite version is with yogurt, mashed strawberry and banana and maybe a drizzle of maple (find its way into just about every recipe in my house!)

What’s your favourite thing about what you do?

The sense of excitement and the smells in the kitchen when I'm making muesli.

What can customers coming to the market expect to see at your stall?

Freshly made muesli in Holly's gorgeous packaging and probably muesli anzacs (a recipe adapted from a fantastic Nursing Mothers' cookbook)
