Christine Boyce from Fig Tree Muesli

Market goers are in for a special treat at our September…..the best muesli you will ever taste, seriously. Christine Boyce began making her Fig Tree Muesli when she was teenager in Dublin. Her boyfriend's mother, Aine McCarthy, made her own muesli, and passed on the recipe to her, along with some of her secrets (see below!). Christine’s husband ran The Lansdowne Cafe for its first couple of years and Christine made their muesli for them. When they sold the business last year, she just had to find a way to keep making her muesli because she enjoyed it so much….lucky for us we have snavelled her and her delicious products! Fig Tree Muesli is not only good for you, it’s good for the world! It’s a not-for-profit business, with all proceeds going to various worthy causes - currently Medecins Sans Frontiers.

What makes it so yummy?

I toast the bejaysus out of all the nuts and seeds, and use the tiniest amount of french hazelnut sirop- there, the secret's out!

How is your muesli best enjoyed?

It's really a matter of taste, but it needs to be fairly fresh to be at its very best , which is why I dont make it more than three or four days before each market. My favourite version is with yogurt, mashed strawberry and banana and maybe a drizzle of maple (find its way into just about every recipe in my house!)

What’s your favourite thing about what you do?

The sense of excitement and the smells in the kitchen when I'm making muesli.

What can customers coming to the market expect to see at your stall?

Freshly made muesli in Holly's gorgeous packaging and probably muesli anzacs (a recipe adapted from a fantastic Nursing Mothers' cookbook)

Larissa Kemp from Little Lari

Larissa Kemp, under her Little Lari label, joins us for the first time at our September 6th Market, and we are thrilled to have her beautiful and whimsical creations joining us. Larissa moved to Tassie 6 yrs ago, from the hustle and bustle of Sydney. Since completing a jewellery design course at tafe, she has worked for a bronze sculptor as well as making her beautiful and eclectic jewellery, commissioned pieces and wholesale stock for retail outlets. She likes to make people laugh and aims to create pieces with a sense of humour.

What are your creations inspired by?

The little moments

What’s your favourite thing about what you do?

Freedom of creation and I can sing badly while I work in my shed with no one around to complain.

Favourite colours/materials to work with?

Anything that has bright colours and silver.

What can customers coming to the market expect to see at your stall?

To find some one off pieces that will make you smile and great little gifts for friends and family.

the market no.5

Market no. 5 was held on Sunday, and the last of our winter markets went off with a bang! Outside, it was chilly, damp winter’s day, but inside the temple it was a cosy, warm and beautifully lit space. A very steady stream of customers came through, making this our most successful market yet.

Our specially selected stall holders did not disappoint, with outstanding products and beautifully created stalls. We had several new products and ranges being launched this market, to great success, which is lovely to see! See below, for a few pics of the day…

Thank you very much to everyone who supported the market…it’s nice to know that our very talented designers and makers are developing a strong local following, and getting some good exposure and recognition for the brilliant wares they produce.

If you missed out, never fear, our next market is on the 6^th of September - and just quietly, we have a little bit of excitement in the pipeline for our Christmas markets in November and December - so watch this space!

We're excited about our 5th event, the August market. Excited about the delightful collection of stall holders we have lined up for you this month. And we're super excited about the fact that there is such a stong demand for quality locally made products, and that we can play a small part in uniting our customers with the truly talented designers and best products our state has tucked away.

So once again, we are pleased to bring you a mixture of your favourite stall holders, with some fresh new products and people.

Here's the sneak peak...

Firstly...the clever Emma Colbeck from Love Button will be there! Emma and her colourful and quirky wares participated in our very first market, and will be back with some brand spanking new products for winter...Lovely!

The gorgeous textiles and paper products from Hideyo will also make an appearance, as will Jemima from Cube art + design, with her very cool mix of local artists wares including prints and accessories.

We welcome a new addition to our stationery family, Narelle from Ruby Victoria Letterpress, with her fabulous range of cards. While adorning the hallway of The Masonic Temple (a market first!), we have the intriguing flat-pack chandeliers, by Loz Abberton of Who Did That...these are seriously wonderful!

A gorgeous collection of children's products will be there, ranging from tutus, softies (including the cutest pandas in the world from Little Snoring), books, clothes and even bed warmers, for keeping little people warm through our long cold winter.

And to look after tummies while you wander, we have a nice assortment of sweet treats, warm savouries, our very popular organic coffee stall, and deliciously REAL jams, from Woodstock Fruits.

the 'magical' market no. 4!

the market's offering for July was held on Sunday, and we were overwhelmed once again with the beautiful wares on offer, from our talented bunch of stall holders.

A steady stream of customers enjoyed a lazy Sunday coffee (or something more substantial!) and a wander through the Masonic Temple, checking out the best local artists and designers our state has to offer.

We saw plenty of familiar faces in the crowd - it's lovely to see we are developing a strong local following. Once again a big thank you to everyone who came along and supported our brilliant stall holders.

We don't want to boast...but we are exceptionally proud of this month's selection of talented local artists and designers. With a nice blend of familiar faces, new stalls, and innovative new products, we sure hope you can join us for our fourth event, on Sunday 5th July. Here's a sneak peak...

Upon entering the Masonic Temple, you will see our entrance foyer has been taken over by the lovely Jemima from Cube Art and Design. With her eclectic and intriguing mix of local art and design, we can't wait to see the transformation, from temple to gallery.

The stationery sector is well represented in July, with the very cool White Paper people, the colourful and quirky Phat Flats, Island Cards and Mere et Fille (to name a few!) providing a fabulous assortment of all things paper.

Also joining us this month, we have a great selection of clothing and textile designers...very exciting. Bearing in mind the chilliness of July, we have rounded up a nice assortment of warming wares such as softly knitted beanies, scarves, and Nadine Kessler design's fantastic armlings. We also have a generous sprinkling of baby and childrens wares, including bedding, clothing and decorations.

The girls from Little Twig, will be there, and have been busy making their prettily poetic wooden pieces, engraved with beautiful illustrations. We have gathered a beautiful and varied assortment of accessories, in particular quirky and unique handmade jewellery, and some very cool locally made bags and clutches.

For those of you who need some motivation to venture out into your garden these cold winter months, Karen Wagner will be there, with her beautiful garden products and inspired garden design that will ensure your garden is not neglected this month.

As always, we have our very popular organic coffee stall, fragrant Natures Path loose leaf tea varieties, along with homemade old fashioned sweet treats, and some warm winter soups and savouries to keep you cosy.

Another wonderful market day...

Over the Queen's birthday long weekend, the market held event number 3, on a beautiful but chilly winter's day. The entrance of the Masonic Temple was transformed with an inspiring collection of garden products and design, by the very talented Karen Wagner.

Further along, customers stopped by our food and produce room, for coffee's, soup and other scrumptious locally made treats. Jars of Milliere honey and homemade Woodstock jams were also a favourite.

the market was again well patronised, and our customers happily pottered amongst the diverse selection of quality local products on offer. Have a peek below at some of the wares on display from our delightful stall holders.

The next market will be held on Sunday 5th July, with another fresh selection of Tasmanian talent to keep your winter blues at bay!
